WATERCOLOR PAINTING
(SEction A)
INSTRUCTOR: PAT LIEBOWITZ
Two-Day Workshop: October 4 & 5, 2019
FEE: $295 ($270 for members of EMFA and partner organizations)
MATERIALS: Paper, paint, and special equipment will be provided; see below for items participants are asked to bring
Learn to capture the luminosity and beauty of the natural world through watercolor painting!
On the first day of the workshop, we will focus on basic watercolor techniques, learning how to paint such beauties of nature as skies, rocks, trees, water, etc. With guidance from the instructor and daily technique demos, beginning students will then be encouraged to start their own paintings, incorporating what they have learned. Those with more experience will begin a nature-based painting on the first day. Students are invited to bring photos to work from or use those from the instructor’s collection. Participants at all levels, from beginners to more experienced artists, will benefit from the techniques offered in the workshop.
Please bring:
• A palette - any flat, non-porous surface to use for mixing watercolors (i.e. a plastic or tin plate). Artist’s palettes come in a wide range of prices. Pat recommends the Tom Lynch 430 palette from Cheap Joe’s.
• A pencil
• A kneaded eraser
• Water container
• Brushes - They come in a wide range of quality. If you wish to invest in good brushes, these are some that Pat recommends from Cheap Joe’s:
