Writing technique
INSTRUCTOR: cutter wood
Three-Day Workshop: October 3, 4, & 5, 2019
FEE: $395 ($370 for members of EMFA and partner organizations)
This workshop will focus on the role of structure in writing. Using diverse texts, examples from other art forms, and the beauty of the surrounding area as our starting points, we will engage in a series of exercises and imitations designed to guide students of all levels through examinations of their own technique and voice. We’ll then look at one another’s work and explore concepts of scene and exposition, narrative pacing, and varieties of form.
Participants should have a writing project in mind or be in the process of working on one. At the conclusion of the weekend, writers will have the option of reading their work aloud to the Endless Arts community. Upon leaving, the workshop participants should all have a better understanding of how to guide their work into a finished form.
